The Vampire Narcise is the second book in Colleen Gleason's Regency Draculia series. It is the tale of a woman who will risk anything to gain her freedom.

The Vampire Narcise by Colleen Gleason - Storyline

In the third installment of the Regency Draculia series, we follow the journey of Narcise. From the previous two tales, we know she is the sister of Moldavi, imprisoned by him and used as a bargaining chip until she escapes with vampire hunter, Chas Woodmore.

As the story begins, Narcise is kept under lock and key by her tyrannical brother. When she meets charismatic Giordan Cale it seems like her prayers have finally been answered. Her passion for him ignites and she trusts him to help her escape.

When Cale betrays her, Narcise feels that all hope is lost. That is until vampire hunter, Chas Woodmore, appears on the scene. Narcise seizes the opportunity to break free and exact her revenge, but as more secrets are revealed, she must make a difficult choice.

The Vampire Narcise by Colleen Gleason – Book Review

I loved the first two books in this series and the third is no exception. It was wonderful to return to these characters that have become so familiar over the past few weeks as I worked my way through the series.

Many of the usual cast are back, albeit briefly, while Narcise, who has been a marginal figure till now, comes to the fore. I particularly enjoyed learning the history behind her relationship with Cale, which has been hinted at previously, but never explained.

This is a well paced story with plenty of action that keeps you turning the page. The theme of redemption, featured in the other two books, is also strong here; although for me the ending of this book was less satisfying than those of the previous two offerings. I can see why Gleason chose to end Narcise’s tale in this way and yet I feel it lacks the punch of the endings given to Voss and Dimitri.

Nevertheless, this is an excellent read that will please any vampire aficionado and is highly recommended for those who have already enjoyed the previous books in the Regency Draculia series.
